MY STORY
My name is Jamie Lord and I am an award-winning Artist and Modelmaker who is captivated by the delicate and complex beauty of the natural world.
I explore this fascination through wildlife sculpture. Over the years, I have received multiple accolades, including the 'Best Use of Creative Materials Award' at the national modelmakers event 'New Blades.'

I enjoy working with a diverse range of materials and techniques, adding layer upon layer of detail to bring each subject to life. From crafting oak sea turtle shells to hand-cutting individual paper feathers, as well as using traditional clay, I continually strive for excellence in my craft. Having lived in the Cotswolds and Barcelona, Spain, I draw inspiration from diverse sources within the natural world. This passion for wildlife has contributed to my realistic artistic style.

Through my love for the natural world, I have developed an ability to observe details closely. Whenever possible, I prefer to work from life, and I emphasise that careful observation of a subject's behaviour and instinctive and physical traits, along with anatomical research, results in an intriguing and powerful artwork.

I aim to capture the true essence, character, and spirit of each subject, and I believe that when you look into a sculpture's eyes, you should feel life as if it is looking back at you.

As a graduate of Arts University Bournemouth with a BA(Hons) in Modelmaking, I have developed a passion for creating detailed, lifelike miniatures and sculptures.
This education has equipped me with the skills to convey stories and meanings through three-dimensional art, which has proven invaluable in crafting wildlife sculptures that evoke emotional responses.
