‘Aurora’ brings the collection to a close with a creature long bound to the thresholds of night and day: the hare. Captured in a moment of stillness, ears raised, body taut with quiet attention, this sculpture embodies both presence and possibility, a sentinel poised at the edge of light.

The title ‘Aurora’ draws from the first light of dawn, when hares are most often seen moving through fields and meadows. In that pale glow, they embody transition, not only between darkness and day, but between the ordinary and the otherworldly. The hare’s alert gaze and upright form reflect its reputation for intuition, vitality, and swift transformation, qualities that have made it one of Britain’s most enduringly symbolic wild animals.

Unlike rabbits, hares live above ground in shallow hollows, exposed to the elements and reliant on their speed, senses, and awareness. They are creatures of the open, yet ever elusive, present, and vanishing in a heartbeat.

As the final piece of The Wild Heart of Britain, ‘Aurora’ stands as a symbol of renewal and continuity. It honours the hare as both a real animal of the fields and a timeless emblem of liminality, carrying forward the quiet, untamed spirit that binds the collection together.

‘Aurora’ – Marble Edition
Alongside the main collection, Aurora will be released in an exclusive marble edition of 6, echoing the hare’s deep associations with dawn, moonlight, and renewal. Cast in marble with a hand-finished patina, it embodies the quiet magic of Britain’s wild landscapes. Rare and ethereal, the white hare evokes folklore, moonlit fields, and the fleeting wonder of a creature glimpsed at the edge of imagination.
