‘Edgekeeper’ marks the beginning of a new five-piece collection exploring the quiet, wild heart of British wildlife. This body of work delves into the hidden, natural, and often mysterious beauty of native species, starting with one of Britain’s most iconic and enigmatic creatures: the Red Fox.

This sculpted head portrait captures the fox not as a caricature of cunning, but as a fully realised presence; alert, intelligent, and cloaked in the quiet magic that has long inspired both reverence and myth. The adult fox portrayed here is a seasoned hunter: sharp-eyed, adaptable, and enduring.

The title ‘Edgekeeper’ speaks to the fox’s life lived along thresholds, between day and night, town and field, wildness, and the human world. It is not just a dweller of these spaces, but a watchful guardian of them, slipping silently between landscapes, always observing, always surviving.

The Red Fox is among the UK’s most recognisable mammals. With its russet coat, upright ears, and keen gaze, it thrives across rural and urban environments alike, carving out dens, or “skulks,” beneath hedgerows and gardens. In folklore, the fox has long symbolised cleverness, stealth, and transformation. It is this blend of realism and quiet myth that ‘Edgekeeper’ seeks to honour.
